Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals. Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated London. Septem 22: The weather has been rather showery during the week, and nights and mornings are getting cold. Danish: The quotation has been raised 2 kroner. Jt was generally expected that the increase would have, been greater, but probably this will come next week. Siberian: Arrivals continue on about the same scale, and thi* week's met with a good demand at an advance of about 2s per cwt. on all grades. French: Imports of this butter are now very small indeed, and there is every prospect of their still further decreasing.
Irish: A railway strike has developed in Ireland during the week, and this has put everything at a standstill, the creameries being unable to get the butter forward. One would naturally think that (his state of affairs cannot' last very long, hut while it does it makes things verv awkward.
AiMraliaii: There have been quite a few steamers in this week, but the total quantity they have brought has not amounted to very mueh. We have had the Somerset. "Moravian. YVakool. Tropic and Orvicto. There were a few new season's butters amongst 'them, and these have sold well; in fact, everything, whether stored, winter-made or new season's, has easily cleared. Supplies to this market are exceedingly short, and although prices are now on a fairly high level, there is every prospect of their going still higher. Xew Zealand: Everything is cleared on the spot. We are to-day advised of the liuapebu leaving Wellington with lfiO tons on board.
Cheese.—Trade has been good at the advance, and last week's prices are well maintained, and higher rates are being asked to arrive.
