THE LIQUOR PROBLEM.

RESOLUTION BY ANGLICAN SYNOD. Auckland, October 25. The question of no-license and Dominion prohibition was discussed at the Auckland Anglican Synod to-night. The Rev. C. A. B. Watson had given notice to move: "That in view of the widespread evils of the liquor traffic, this Synod urgently requests churchmen and churchwomen to consider their serious responsibility in the matter, and to vote at the forthcoming poll in favor of, no-license, and (b) Dominion prohibition. At the outset, Mr. Watson was advised to omit all the words after "matter," it being urged that if a unanimous vote were passed it would have a greater moral effect than if a division took place. Mr. Watson adopted the suggestion, and the motion in its amended form was carried unanimously. Several speakers in support of the* motion stated that they would have supported the motion in its original form, and that they regretted' that the latter portion had been omitted. Mr. Watson strongly urged that it ' was the duty of the Church to give a lead in this matter, as thousands were looking to it for' guidance.
