ALLEGED CARGO BROACHING. By Telegraph—Press Association. ( Wellington, Last Night. During discharging operations 011 the steamer Moana at the Queen's wharf today it was discovered that a case of tobacco had been opened aful the contents tampered with. The police were advised, and Detectives Andrews and Lewis, after making investigations, arrested eight men. who will be charged at the Magistrate's Court this morning with the theft of tobacco. METHODTST CHURCH. Christclmrch, Last Night. Rev. S. Lawrv, secretary of the New Zealand Methodist Conference, has received a communication from Australia to the effect that a Bill providing for an independent New Zealand Methodist Church has passed all its stages in the New South Wales and Victorian Parliaments. NEW MANAGEMENT' WANTED. Wanganui, Last Night. An adjourned meeting of the Freezing Company is to be held on Tuesday to discuss the confirmation o£ a motion passed last week calling upon the directors to resign. The whole object of the opposition is to secure new management. there being no question as to the stability of the company. ;
