; SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather summary and forecast is as follows:—Centres of low pressure areas appearing in the northern and southernmost districts have neutralised the effects of the two disturbances very considerably to-day. Heavy rain lias fallen in many parts of the North Island, and westerly winds, strong to gale, now prevail. Present indications are for southerly, winds, strong to gale, generally, and heavy Tain is probable in many parts, especially on the east coast. Colder weather is expected with snow on higher levels in the south. The barometer is likely to rise smartly everywhere ■oon, and more settled conditions follow In the early part of next week.
