ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
RAILWAY OFFICIAL INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Woodtville, Thursday. A rather serious accident happened thi« morning on the railway between " Woodville and Maharahara stations Mr Widdopp, chief engineer of the railways' ' and Mr. Nelson, foreman of the works at Wellington, were journeying on a railway motor inspecting the bridges. Towards Dannevirke they were run into by the 10.20 train to Woodville Mr Wdddopp escaped injury, but Mr. Nelson ' had his left leg broken in two places and other serious injuries. He was brought on to Woodville, where he was attended to by Dr. Mules, who ordered his removal to the Palmerston Hospital. A GANGER KILLED. r. , . Mlarton, Thursday, Frederick Nagcl, aged 42 years, a railway ganger, residing at Cliff road, near Marton, was run over by a ballast train this morning. His left leg and ri«ht ' arm were completely severed, "and his head badly lacerated. He died shortly, after being conveyed to the Marton station. Deceased slipped in attempting to get on the ballast train, and was carried ' under the wheels. He leaves a widow and four young children. A RANGER'S SUICIDE. » Pahiatua, Thursday. Charles E. Irving, ranger to the Pahuitua, County Council, died last night after drinking l yso ]. He was a man about 40 years of age, and leaves a wife and family of young children.
