THE MELBA SEASON

HER FAREWELL PERFORMANCE By Gable —Press Association—Copyright. Sydney. October 20. There was a great and enthusiastic gathering at His Majesty's Theatre for Madame Melba's farewell performance. The diva was smothered with flowers pelted from all parts of the house. In the interval the Lord Mayor presented a citizens' address appreciative of her patriotic and unselfish labor in presenting in Australia grand opera on a scale worthy of the great works performed. He intimated that later he would present Madame Melba with a valuable piece of plat subscribed for by the citizens.
