Received 27, 8.30 p.m. Sydney, July 27. The first enrolment of the senior cadets of the Commonwealth will amount to 97,000. The number of exemptions is larger than expected. The Acting-Min-ister of Defence states that there is no j objection to the Boy Scouts, provided they do military duty. ! DISHONEST RESTAURANTEURS. Received 27, 8.30 p.m. J Sydney. July 27. At the Food Commission Mr. Stead, the naturalist of the Fisheries Department, threw some, light on the wilea of certain restaurant-keepers, declaring that mullet was sold as a substitute for almost any class of fish. He quoted figures showing that fishermen often received less than half what their consignments brought at the market. SYDNEY BANK CLEARANCES. Received 27, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, July 27. The clearances through the Sydney banks since the beginning of the year total £600,894,911, an increase of 12.8 per cent, over last year. THE YONGALA WRECK. Received 28, 1.1 a.m. Brisbane, July 27. The Government has extended the offer of £IOOO for the discovery of the Yongala wreck till September 30.
