Mr. Runciman, Secretary for Education, in reply to a question in the House of Commons, said that the medical inspection of two million school children showed the following percentages: Ten per cent, had defective sight; 20 to 40 per cent, were in urgent need of a dentist; 3 to 5 per cent, had defective 'hearing; 8 per cent, had enlarged tonsils; l'to 4 per cent, had tuberculosis; and 1 per cent, had heart disease.
