ENTERTAINMENTS

BIOGIUPII PICTURES.

There was a good attendance at the Theatre Royal oil Saturday night, when Mr. G. F. Saunders, of the Biograph Pictures, put on his final change of programme in that building prior to retnoving to the Whiteley Hall, where he opens on Wednesday night next, with a complete change of programme. The pictures submitted on Saturday were of a high class order, and found much favor with the audience. The scenic views comprised "Wild Wester# Ireland," "Scenes in Darkest Africa," and "The Dome of Milan Cathedral," the beautiful architecture of which proved a revelation to the majority of those present. The star dramatic film, "The Usurer," was remarkably powerful, showing on the one side the wealthy hard-hearted, unscrupulous man of business, and the luxurious life he lived in comparison with the numbers of families he Tuined on account of his usury. The final scene showed how he ultimately succumbed in his own strongroom, surrounded by all his wealth, having been accidentally imprisoned tlere by one of his victims, who fell against the door in a faint on hearing that his terms would not .be relaxed. The marvellous dancing of Sahary Djeli held the audience spell-bound, as it is doing in London at the present » day. The other dramatic scenes: "When a Man Loves," "An Indian Girl's Romance," "Willie and the Raffe," and "The Cherub and the Widow" were also of high excellence. The doings of Tonoline, Koolshead and > others also evoked much laughter. I

As already announced Mr. Saunders will open in the Whiteley Hall with a. complete change on Wednesday night, owing to the electric plant having been installed and the decorations completed sooner than was anticipated. On Saturday night there will also be a further * change, when that magnificent spectacu- :• lar film, "The Fall of Troy," in which over four hundred artists take part, and which has created quite a furore wherever shown, will be produced. The programme will also be repeated on Monday and Tuesday.
