Another veteran of the Maori war ha»i passed away, in the person of Grant, late of the 05th Regiment. De»* ceased, who was born in India, enlisted* in the above regiment in 1853, and trM rived in New Zealand, accompanied byi his wife, in the ship Lancashire YfttcbJ in 1855. He fought through the Ta»3| naki war under General Gould, anil afterwards in the Wnikato, taking parti in the famous fights at Rangiriri anil Orakau. He was awarded the Umh Zealand war medal, and was in receipt of the Imperial pension. Some weeltt| ago he was taken seriously ill, and m died, after a short illness, at his rettti dence in Cobden street. Deceased hail attained the age of 74 years.
