DROWNING CASE AT AUCKLAND. ' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Tuesday. G. Edbrooke, a greaser 011 the steamer Pftpuroa, .-.while going aboard last niglit slipped from the gangway and fell into the harbor and was drowned. It is believed that he was a married man hailing from Bristol. A FATAL FALL. Christchurch, Tuesday. Robert Fullerton, an elderly man who arrived in Christchurch last night from Timaru, died in the hospital to-day as the result of injuries received in a fall from a hotel fire escape. He apparently left his room at the hotel after closing time with the intention of going down the fire escape, and late at night was found lying in the hotel yard with his skull fractured. INQUEST. Christchurch, Last Night. At an inquest on the body of S. F. Tait, the evidence , showed that deceased wanted to go out of the hotel after it was closed for the purpose of getting supper. He declined the landlady's offer of bread and cheese. It is assumed that he essayed to get off the premises by means of a fire escape, and, being near sighted, missed his footing and fell into the yard. He was apparently sober at the time, A verdict of accidental death was returned. DROPPED DEAD. Woodville, Last Night. This afternoon a man named Jack Keenan, employed as a billiard marker at the Club Hotel, dropped dead at the Commercial Hotel. Deceased was wellknown in the Wairarapa. CLERGYMAN IN A COLLISION. Dunedin, Last Night. A serious accident occurred'at Waikouaiti at 5 p.m. to-day. As Mrs. Bannatyne, who was accompanied by her parents, was driving along the road, a motor cycle ridden by the Rev. J. Sommerville, of Palmerston, collided with the buggy, which was capsized. The occupants of the buggy received a number of cuts and bruises, but Mr. Sommerville fared worst. He was unconscious when picked up, and had not recovered consciousness two hours later.
