The curious position which arose in New Brighton last night in connection with the municipal polling has been the subject of much comment this morning. There was only one booth in the borough, and when closing time came a large crowd of belated voters were clamoring for admission. Some fifty persons were in the booth at 7 o'clock, but in view of the crowd the returning officer decided that it was impossible to record their votes, and after consulting the Act he announced that the poll would be postponed till to-day. The bootn was therefore locked up for the night, and polling is being continued to-day. At several of the large city booths, particularly in Sydenham, where polling was very heavy in the evening, a large number of voters were in uanger of being crowded out. However, they were admitted to the booth before the doors were locked and their votes were recorded. Late voters appreciated the position and gave the officials every assistance so that the work could proceed smoothly. In one booth 120 persons recorded their votes after 7 o'clock, the last paper being handed in shortly before 8 o'clock.
