AMUSEMENTS

"SEVEN DAYS." At the Theatre Royal to-night Mr.. Hugh J. Ward and his company of (_ comedians make a farewell visit to New Plymouth, when they present for the j first time here a farcical comedy success entitled "Seven Days." The play came to Australia with a record of 402 nights in New York, the longest run ever enjoyed by a "farce in America, and in Australia its reputation was further eniianced by most glowing accounts from both Press and public. "Seven Days" rc- , presents the period for which the house o£ James Wilson is kept in rigid quarantine, upon the discovery that one of the servants is believed to have contracted smallpox or something of that kind. The quarantine restriction conies at a most aivkward time for Wilson, as he is desperately anxious to conceal his domestic differences from Aunt Selina, who has arrived on a hurried visit at the moment the house was declared infected. The piece has been classed in America above such successes as "Charley's Aunt" and "The Private Secretary," and while the element of fun is conspicuous in it, there is said to be also charming sentiment to enhance its value. Mr. Hugh Ward portrays a character which involves no disguise in liis personal appearance—Jim Wilson, a bright, genial man of the world. Miss Grace Palotta appears as Kit McNair, a part well suited to her talents. The cast includes the full strength of the company: Miss Celia Chiloni as Aunt Selina, Miss Maud Chetwynd as Anne Brovfn, Miss Ruby Baxter as Belle Knowles, Mr. Aubrey Msillileau as Dallas Brown, Mr. Reg. Wykeham as Tom Harbison, Mr. Robt. Greig as Officer Flannigan, Mr. Laurence Ilardinge as Hobbs, and Mr. H. H. Wallace as Tubby McGirk. The company appear here for this night only.
