A FOREMAN KILLED. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Taihape, Tuesday. 11. R. Middleton, foreman of the Powell process works at ltangataua, while in charge of working the ''stumping devil" yesterday afternoon, owing to the snapping of a hook, was struck on the side of the head by a blow, which smashed it, and caused instantaneous death. The break occurred when the machine was at its maximum pressure. Middleton leaves a widow and two children. A COAL MINE FATALITY. Westport, Tuesday. A trucker at the Westport Coal Co.'s Mangatina mine named Jas Campbell, a single man, was injured last night through a runaway truck of coal passing over him. He died at 11.30 this morning. KILLED ON A RACECOURSE. Auckland, Last Night. A fatal accident occurred at Te Aroha yesterday, a well-known resident at Mackaytown, named B. McGeehan, being killed. He was knocked down on the racecourse by a four-in-hand brake, which passed over his body, killing him instantly. RUN OVER BY A CART. Auckland, Last Night. An elderly man/named Samuel Crammer, who was admitted to the hospital about three weeks ago suffering from broken ribs, the result of an accident by which he was run over by a cart, died this morning. His death was due to heart trouble, accentuated by the broken ribs. FATALITY NEAR MILTON. Dunedin, Last Night. Particulars have just been received of an accident at Cooper's mine, near Milton, on Saturday, when Alexander McLuckie, thirty-nine years of age, was killed by a fall of coal. Deceased, who was a married man, and a mate named Broom, were filling coal into a box, when a block of coal about a ton in weight caught McLuckie. Broom had a narrow escape. When the coal was removed, deceased was found in a kneeling position. Death had evidently been instantaneous. His skull was fractured, his neck broken, and his back badly knocked about. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned.

A trucker named Good was caught by the tail of the fall, and the muscles of the left arm were stripped from the shoulder.
