CHALLENGE FROM SOUTH AFRICA. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 3, 11.40 p.m. Sydney, March 3. The secretary of the Australasian Tennis Association to-day received a letter from South Africa, challenging for the next Davis Cup contest. This is the first occasion on which South Africa has entered the lists for the world's tennis championship. She will have to beat Britain and America in order to meet Australia, as the holders, in the challenge round. Entries remain open till Monday, and there is still a possibility of Germany challenging. The committee will meet on Monday to decide the latest date whereon the preliminary tie may be played.
