King George personally bestowed numerous-medals for bravery. He congratulated Mrs. Wright, who on December 20 went to the assistance of Constable Haystead when the latter was arresting an armed burglar named Arthur. The King walked to the stretcher whereon Sergeant Woodham, one of the Houndsditch constables, had been brought to the place. The King, bending over and shaking hands with Woodham, inquired as to his progress, and warmly commended his valour.
