W.C.T.U.

THE COMING NEW ZEALAND I CONFERENCE. The first monthly meeting of the W.C.T.U. after the holidays was held at the Baptist Church yesterday, when there was a fair atteuuiuice. It was resolved that the meetings be held fortnightly during the press of Convention business at the same time and place. The business done was entirely in connection with preparations for receiving members and delegates of the New Zealand Women's Christian Temperance Union Convention, which will he held in New Plymouth. A reception is being arranged for March 23rd in the Theatre Royal, to be followed in the evening by an interesting and entertaining programme, the iirst part of which will be musical, and illustrations of work done by the union. This will be followed by a bright little temperance play called "The Family that lived in a Shoe." The young ladies and gentlemen who are mainly responsible for this entertainment are practising with an enthusiasm that must ensure success.
