MOTOR-CAR ACCIDENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. A rather serious accident happened on the llutt road near Taita. A buggy which was being driven by Mr. Olliver, containing Mrs. Peters, Mrs.,Cudby, Ina Cudby, and Mr. Aston, attempted to pass another vehicle which was preceding it. A motor-car owned by Mrs. Jacob Joseph also attempted to pass, and the road being narrow, a collision occurred. Ina Cudby, aged three, sustained a broken thigh, Mrs. Peters was badly bruised and cut, and Olliver also sustained injuries. The occupants ot the car escaped without injury. Both buggy and car were considerably damaged. BENZINE EXPLODES. Dargaville, Wednesday. A man named Legrice, employed in Stewart Bros.' butter factory at Helensville, had a narrow escape of a serious accident. When using a heating lamp he filled it with benzine in mistake for kerosene, and on applying a light an explosion followed. Legrice was badly burned, necessitating his removal to the hospital. CHILD FATALLY SCALDED. Te Kuiti, Wednesday. Walter Biscman's eighteen-month-old child fell into a copper of boiling water, and died. At the inquest the coroner took occasion to emphasise the need for a coroner at Te Kuiti. GIRL TAIvF-S POISON. Waihi, Last Night.. A young girl in service in a boardinghouse took a dese of lysol, and in consequence is now in the hospital in a precarious condition.
