A FORTUNATE DUCKING
MOTOR-CAR DIVES INTO A LAGOON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. A sensational motor accident occurred this afternoon at Awapuni. Mr. R. S. Abraham, of Abraham and Williams, Ltd!, was motoring out from Mr. Alan Strang's /residence in his Wolsley-Sid-dcley car, with Mr. Craw beside him. Just as he got out. of the drive he found another car in the road, of whose approach he had had no warning. In hastily seeking to put on the brakes, the accelerator was touched, and the car, in the effort to avoid the other, dashed through the bridge and into the big lagoon, turning completely over as it did so. Mr. Abraham escaped with an injured hand, but Mr. Craw had a rib broken and a bad shaking. Probably the circumstance of landing in the lagoon saved both their lives.
