THE VALDAEKS-G ARRISOXS
COMPANY
A vaudeville entertainment of unusual merit attracted a big crowd to the Theatre Royal last night. The show put on by tlie combined" Valdares and Garrisons is an epitome of all that is considered most p!eas<% in a latter-day entertainment. It was full of breeze, skill and harmony, and attracts no less by its dexterity than by its pieturesquencss. The Valdares are four artistes whose extraordinary skill on bicycles leaves few others in "the trick cycle business. All the feats on the wheels are unusual, and some are extraordinary, particularly the concluding effect, in which a cyclonic cartwheel, ridden by one of the four, ■bounds down a few steps to apparent destruction, and remains .whole. The Valdares comedy is good, and their skill superlative. '-Reggiardo" is a person who is at home whether he juggles a wad of paper or a hundredweight of cannon ball. He is a master of equilibries, as also are the Maltese poodle and '"Flossie," a brace of dogs which assist excellently in a novel exhibition, demonstrating llu; skill with which man and beast juggle with the law of gravitation. Mr. Jules Garrison, in his Kipling recitation, "Gunga Dili," managed to convey, with appropriate force, Kipling's stirring and pathetic story. He is a particularly good exponent of Kipling, and his "Roman Maids" are ladies whose comedy is excellent, and whose dancing is above the average. 'Miss Diamond Hart is a souhretto and dancer who mentioned tunefully, "I want a Polar Bear," and who danced cheerfully to show her determination to possess that luxury. "Jimmie" Mulligan, a tale-teller, mentioned his struggles during the time he was "Waiting for a Girl," and Miss Gertrude Varno sang popular songs. Miss Alice Herman was at the piano. Altogether the entertainment is bright, attractive and novel, and one that should be received gladly by big audiences livervwhere.
