CLAUSE 9 IN OPERATION
NO-LICENSE, NO BEER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Ashburton, Friday. A number of Ashburton residents complain of harsh treatment by Christchurch brewers, who, in response to orders for small quantities of beer at Christmas, returned the residents' money with the orders unfulfilled. One resident stated he had been a customer of a brewery in Christchurch for many years, but his order and money were returned. Having no other means of obtaining his holiday beer, he therefore had to go without.
