MARLBOROUGH TOOXAMEXT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Blenheim, Last Night. The Marlborough lawn tennis championships and handicaps were continued to-day in perfect weather. Miss Ledger and Miss Butterworth, in the doubles, put up a great contest with Miss Travel's , and Miss Wellwood, and almost had the champions beaten. Some of the finals, will be completed to-morrow. Fisher wasj not at his best to-day. Results:— Ladies' Singles Championship. —First round: G. Smythe beat P. M. B. Fisher, ster, 6-2, 6-4. Second round: Miss M. Simpson beat Mrs. Waddy, 6-0, 6-2; Miss i Nunneley beat Miss Baird, 6-1, 6-1; Miss iTravers'beat Miss M. Thomson, 6-1, 6-2; Miss Butterworth beat Miss V. Simpson, 6-2, 4-0, 6-2; Miss Wellwood beat Miss Butterworth, 6-2, 7-5. Third round: Miss Simpson beat Miss Batham, 5-7, 12-10, 6-3.
Men's Champion Singles. Second round: G. Smythe heat F. M. B. Fischer. 7-8 (Fisher retired); E. W. Griffiths beat H. Broadmore, 6-2, 6-3. Third round: Parker beat G. Smvthe, 6-0, 6-0; Brown beat E. Griffiths, 6-1, 6-3; Parker beat E. W. v Griffiths, 6-1, 6-2.
Ladies' Doubles Championship.—First round: Miss Travers and Miss Wellwood beat Misses Thomson (2), 6-1, 0-2; Miss Baird and Miss Nunneley beat Miss Batham and Miss Simpson, 6-3,6-2. Second round: Miss Nunneley and Miss Baird beat Miss Brewster and Miss Simpson, 6-0, 0-2; Miss Travers and Miss Wellwood beat Miss, Ledger and Miss Butterworth, 3-6, 12-10, 6-0.
Combined Doubles Championship. First round: Miss Butterworth and Didsbury beat Mrs. Marchbank and G. Smythe, 6-3, 6-0; Miss Ledger and 0. Prouse beat Miss Bell and Dr. Bennett, 6-4, 5-7, '6-1. Second round: Miss Travels and Fisher beat Miss Butterworth and Didsbury, 7-5, 6-1; Miss Baird and Parker beat Miss Wellwood and Wilson, 6-I', 6-2.
Men's Handicap Singles (first grade).— Second round: J. Brock (30) beat L. Griffiths (20). 70-63'; H. Brown (owe TO) beat F. M. B. Fisher (owe 20), 90-80; Brown beat Prouse, 70r45.
