After a few fitful showers glorious weather broke forth for the first day of the Taranaki Christmas meeting, so the ladies were able to wear all their dainty summer apparel, which produced a charming effect, some of the frocks being, really beautiful. Amongst the ladies on the lawn I noticed— Mrs. Walker, cream lace robe, -with draped skirt, loosely knotted on one sid«, over a glace foundation; very pretty white and black hat.
