TARANAKI v. MAXAWATU. Bv Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, December 29. North Taranaki started a match against Manawatu yesterday. Manawatu batted, and on a batsman's wicket made 300 in the first innings. The chief scorers were Young 102, Goldspring 78, and Pleasants 62 (n6t out). [The Press Association has neglected to telegraph the progress of the match.]

NELSON,v. WANGANUI. Wanganui, Lat Night. The Wanganui-Nelson cricket match match was continued to-day in unfavorable weather. The wicket showed signs of wearing, and batting was difficult at times. Wanganui scored 174 (H. IC. Cave 44, Luxford- 38, H. B. Cave 28, Smith 27, Faber 12) in their first innings; and, following on, made 138 (Luxford 27, L. P. Cave 34, Howard 18, Atkinson 13) for seven wickets. Nelson scored 300. The game was drawn.
