DISTRICT NEWS.

LINCOLN ROAD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) We are still going ahead. Mr. G. Henderson has had a fine residence erected at the corner of Lincoln and Richmond roads. Mr. H. B. Curtis has also had a new house built on his farm on the Bristol road, and Mr. J. W. Uncles has demolished an old landmark in what was known as Leech's old two-storey house and erected in its stead a more suitalile residence. I may state that this old house was one of the first two storeyed houses built in the Inglewood district. Dairying is now in full swing, and the farmer has very little time for anything else. Even the papers are sometimes only glanced at. In fact, Ido not think the Portuguese revolution and the unseating of the King created as much interest as does red-water in cows, 'through which a few were lost in this district. ° The prevailing epidemic has been very severe here, but it is now gradually disappearing. I regret to state that Mr. and Mrs. J. Wellington had the misfortune to lose their infant child on Friday last. I have not heard any more of the proposed bridge over the Manganui on the Bristol road. If a start is not soon made it will be useless, as full advantage must be taken of the summer months to get the best results from the money spent. The School Committee will know in a day or two who will be Mr. Cumberworth's successor. Miss Ballantyne is acting temporarily.
