THEATRE ROYAL COMPANY.

The annual meeting of shareholders of the New Plymouth Theatre Co., Ltd., was held on Wednesday evening. Mr. W. Bewley, chairman of directors, presiding. The directors, in their annual reports, congratulated the shareholders on the further improvement in the company's affairs, largely due to the engagement of the theatre iby the local living picture companies, and notwithstanding heavy expenditure for Fire Board charges and rates. The balance to the credit of profit and loss was £205 2s Bd, including a sum of £62 lis 5d brought forward from the previous year. It was now proposed to pay a dividend of three per cent., which would absorb a sum of £B6 14s, and which was the first return the shareholders had had for their investment for six years. The directors hoped to see this increased to a five per cent, dividend in the future, but this would •largely depend '-v the continued popularity of living pictures. The buildings were in thoroughly good- repair, but it might be desirable to do some internal decoration during the coming year and instal the electric light in/the dressing rooms, in the interest of both economy and safety. Messrs W. Bewley, R. Cock, C. T. Mills, Avery, W, Nixon, j. S. S. Medley and F. Messenger were elected to the "directorate. \lr. H. Stocker was elected auditor. It was decided to pay out a dividend of thvee per cent, as on August Ist.
