AN UNFORTUNATE CASE.

Juanita Alexandria Burn, a married woman, 32 years of age, suicided by jumping off the end of the New Brighton pier last night. The body was ivuaid this morning. She had partly undressed, leaving articles of clothing on the pier, and with a note to her sister, saying: "I could not stand these voio«!#j in my ears any longer, and I am going on a long journey." Deceased had beeni in indifferent health lately. Christchurch, Later. ' At the inquest on Mrs. Burn, no' fresh facts were disclosed, and a verdict was returned that the deceased was found drowned, but there was no evidence to show how the body got Into the 1 water. I
SERIOUSLY INJURED. A young man named George Hodge, in the employ of Armstrong Bros., Tariki, met with a serious accident on! Monday last. While engaged in splitting posts an axe slipped, inflicting a I nasty cut about three inches in length j on the back of his hand, necessitating! several stitches being put in.
