Combine." [ The statement of claim charges defendants with breaches of the Industries Preservation Act in connection with the control of the inter-State coal trade. The Iving and Commonwealth Attor-ney-General are plaintiffs, and the defendants are the Northern Collieries Associated Steamship Companies and the : Adelaide Steamship Company, Howard, | Smith and Co., Huddart, Parker and Co., Mcllwraith and McEachera. ! It is. understood proceedings will be taken on the ground that the alleged agreement comesi within the operations of the Anti-Trust Act, namely, that it 18 an unlawful combination, acting in restraint of trade, whereby the people of States other than New South Wales and Tasmania have been compelled to pay higher prices for coal than they would have done if the combination had "been non-existent. It is expected the proceedings will come before the Hi«h Court in October.
