DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs E, Griffiths and Co., New Plymouth, ure in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated the Gth day of May, 1910: Weather during the week has been most changeable. The nights have been cold, and we have had some cold spells during the day at times, but to-day the sun is shining and we are more hopeful. Danish: The two previous reductions, in the one instance of 4 kronen and the other 3 la-oners, attracted buyers on to Danish, and the orders came in very freelv, so this week agents felt justified in putting the price up one kroner, at which fhure the butters arc clearing. Siberian: The arrivals this week were considerably less than'last week, only totalling about 4000 casks, but these ■have not cleared as readily as agents would wishf French: The butter is coming in much more plentifully, and the quality is improving Yesterday there was a drop of 6d on "rolls, while baskets and firkins, both fresh and salt, have been reduced 4s in .price. These lower prices are more attractive bo buyers. Australia: Several steamers have ar-! rived this week, .namely, Tropic, Otranto, i Waipara, Salamis and Somerset. Unfortunately we have to report that the Otranto's butters were more or less affected with apple-taint. In some cases it I was certainly very slight, but in others it was most pronounced. This was really unfortunate, because, generally speaking, the Australian butters have not been pleasing under the head of quality as well as we would wish, and quite a few brands have not been coming up to their usual standard'. There have been also complaints of many brands being fishy'in flavor, and this is a flavor which buvers dislike very much, and is very difficult to handle. On the week, prices show a reduction of 2s to 4s. Sew Zealand: The Ruapehu's butters are practically cleared, and we think there will be a fair demand for those arriving by the Tainui, which is now in ! dock, should the quality turn out as fine as those ex the Ruapehu which haye on the whole. Cheese.—There is very little doing in Canadian, the bulk of'the trade being on New Zealand, but any sales that have made have been at a reduction in price. The market is decidedly weaker.
