THE ZEALANDIA
TO GO ON THE SYDNEY-VANCOUVER RUN. By Telegra.ph—Press 1 Association. ' Dunedin, Last Night. The Huddart-Parker Company's fine new steamer Zealandia is now on her way to Australia from Durban, and there has been some speculation in shipping circles as to what purpose she will be applied when placed in commission. The Otago Daily Times is informed, ofiicially, that the Zealandia will replace the Manuka in the Sydney-Vancouver service, and the Manuka wi!,l immediately re-enter the intercolonial trade, until the end of the year. The CanadianAustralian Royal Mail service was run bv the Makura, Mara ma, and Aoransri. About November the New Zealand Shipping Company decided to withdraw from the service, and the Aorangi was replaced by the Manuka. The Manuka, however, has her limitations, and those in charge of the service, being anxious to make it thorousrhlv efficient, regarded the new arrangement as merely temporary. The outcome of negotiations has been that the Huddart-Parker Company has decided to enter the service with the Zealandia. She is of 6600 tons burden, and specially built by the Hud-dart-Parker Company proprietary for the Australasian trade. During her trial i trip she recorded 16 knots an hour. She has extensive accommodation for three flasses of passengers, and is fitted with a wireless apparatus. The Zealandia will take up the Manuka's running on August. 1, leaving Svdnev for Vancouver I via Brisbane and Honolulu. I
