GETS FIVE YEARS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Noumea, June 14. M. Willemot, Governor of the Civil Prisoner, has been sentenced to live years', fined 200 francs, and deprived of tlie right ever again to hold a public position, for having kept prisoners after their sentence had been served, and for theft of gaol money. Seventyfive charges were .preferred against him of having converted money sent to prisoners to his own use. When unable to pay him money he kept uie prisoners immured beyond the expiry of their sentences. It is stated that M. Willemot, who is one of the best known citizens of Noumea, last heavily at gambling.
