TARANAKI WINTER SHOW.

EXECUTIVE MEETING. A meeting of tne Winter Show Committee of the Taranaki 'Agricultural Society was held on Tuesday night; present: Messrs. W. Ambury (president), Stanley, Colson, Jackson, Elliott, S. J. Smith, Wood and Watson The chairman was deputed to interview Mr. H. Okey, M.P., with the view| to arranging, if possible, with the Min-j ister of Railways for special trains and excursion fares during the show. The Department has arranged to run excursion trains on .the opening day of the show, the inward train arriving at 2.30 p.m., and the outward train leaving at 8.30 .p.ffl, but the Society wishes to obtain further concessions in the way' of excursion fares on the four days of the show. An application from the New Plymouth Employers' Association for a site for a united display of the industries of the town was granted, the exact site to he arranged later by the committee. The display will be in the centre of the hall, and will 'be an attractive one. An executive committee was appointed, consisting of the president and L. Jackson, A. W. Wood, G. W. Browne, L Jackson, E. Snowball, S. J. Smith t , and 0. W. Sole The committee will; have full power to deal with all mat-, ters, and particularly with the appor-i tioning of space, the fencing o'f Kawaui street, and the lighting of the building: and marquees I It was decided to duplicate all thej technical classes, making separate class-, es for children attending public schools.' The chairman was empowered to ap-j point judges in the technical classes af-) tev conferring with the Director of Technical Education. ' I The secretary was instructed to write' to the Minister of Agriculture asldng him to open the show. If he is unable to attend, Mr. H. Okey, M.P., is to be asked to open the' show. ' i The following judges were appointed:—Dairy produce, Mr Thornton (Government grader); hams and bacon, Mr. W. Hcaly; fruit, garden vegetables, potatoes, field roots and farm collections, Messrs.' W. Rowe and J. Gibson; farm produce, seed, grain and grass seed, Mr. C. A. Wilkinson; home cookery, Mesdames E. Cock and Dockrill; jams, sauces, pickles, fruits and honey,' Mr. C Carter; *ildren's competitions, Mr. E. Snowball (boys) and Mrs. C. Webster; knotting, splicing and lashing, Captain Newton. I Stewards were appointed as follow: Dairy produce, hams and ibaconj Messrs. Henry King, A. Morton and, J, Burgess; garden vegetables, etc.,! Messrs G. W. Browne, R. A. Pigotti and S. Guscott; farm produce, etc., | Messrs. H. Gilbert, J. R. Hill and S. J. Smith; home cookery, Messrs R. F. Cornwall and S. Teed; jams, etc., Messrs F. Watson and K. Webster; children's competitions, etc., Messrs. W. Stanley and L. Jackson. It was decided to add two more classes to the schedule These will be: —Class Ba, best six dessert apples; class 10a, best three dessert pears. There is a big demand for space, and the show promises to be very suc«essful.
