RIVER SEINE CONTINUES TO SWELL. 30.000 PEOPLE HOMELESS IN PARIS AND SUBURBS. DAMAGE ALREADY £49,000.000. TYPHOID OUTBREAK FEARED. By Cable.—p:rAssociation.—Copyright Received 28, 12.5 a.m. Paris, January 27. Snowfalls continue to swell the river Seine. The water of the lake 15 pouring over the parapets and embankments. A lake forming caused the evacuation of the OlTiee, the Hotel deVille .and the Palais de Justice, where there are diverse saving archives. The Chamber of Deputies is contemplating adjourning to Versailles. Traffic has been suspended in the Rue St. Honor and the Rue Royals, whei'e there have been subsidences. A national fund has been opened. An immense amount of water is percolating under the foundations of buildings, causing anxiety. The sewers are not working, the Seine driving back the filth, which is normally carried beyond the city. Medical scientists fear an outbreak of Ivphoid from the drainage filling many cellars. It is estimated that 30.000 in the Paris suburbs are homeless. Refugees are sheltering in the St. Su!'pice seminary and the Pantheon, wher-f beds and heating apparatus have been installed. Other former church bnild"ines are similarly utilised. The Dion and Bouton motor car factories at Puteaux have been closed, rendering 3300 .workers idle. Renter states that official estimates show the damage done by the floods amounts to £40,000,005. RAILWAY TRAFFIC SUSPENDED. PEOPLE ABANDONING THEIR HOMES. Paris, January 26. Traffic on the Paris-Orleans railway is suspended. C'harenton is Hooded, and the inhabitants of Macon are abandoning their dwellings.
