MR. CODY'S SUCCESS. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received August K, 5.5 p.m. London, August 14. Mr. V. S. Cody travelled four miles in six minutes in his aeroplane at Aldershot. After covering tho plain with the figure eight, he continued to Farnborough, stopping at the- camp of the London balloon company of the Territorial Engineers. He subsequently restarted the machine and returned to the shed, bringing the machine to a dead «top at the doors, where he was ovalioncd.
Mr. JF. S. Cody hi October Inst carried nut .sonic partially successful manoeuvres in an aeroplane specially designed by himself and liuilt iii the military laetory at Farnborough. He has made three successful trial Mights at Aldershot—one extending over a distance of a mile mid a half, a speed of thirty miles an hour being attained.

Tin' aeroplane somewhat resembles the Wright machines, and has a powerful motor driving propellers attached to a lightly-built bird-like frame. It was hoped it would have a trial flight Inst month, but the machinery did not, work satisfactorily, and the trial had to be postponed. |
