Permit inc lirst to say that this University for what is termed the Jliddle District, comprising the provincial districts of Wellington, Nelson, Westland, .Marlborough, llawkVs Bay, and Taramiki. An opportunity has now presented itself for enabling tile Council to complete the College in aceordaiic • with the original architectural design. The Covermneiit has offered to pay a subsidy of i'2 for every ,U collected by the Council towards' this object up to 1:201)1), and the additions proposed will involve the expenditure of £3OOO. It will thus be seen that every donor of ±M will really assist tile object to the extent of X'i; and I therefore commend the appeal now being made to the favorable eolisiderationof the people of our own district. Donations will be received at" each of the banks and newspaper offices in the city, and may also be forwarded to me for transmission to the Registrar.—l am, etc., A. T.
