The Minister for Agriculture declined to entertain the request of a deputa lion of wholesale produce dealers not to enforce the total prohibition of Tasmauian potatoes. The deputation urged that stringent inspection would meet the case. They contended that many of th.» condemned potatoes were sutfering from other diseases, not the Irish blight. " The Minister declared that lie was de terniined to adopt measures, no matter [ how drastic, to protect the growers ot the State. He was also considering the prohibition of other root crops grown in diseased fields.
