SIX APPLICATIONS REFUSED. Ashburton, Friday. At a meeting of the Licensing Committee to-day, applications were received for licenses' for six hotels in Geraldinc, Orori,Rangiitata and Arundel, which had come into the AsHnburton electorate by the alteration of the boundaries. The committee held that under sections 8 and 38 of the Licensing Act, read together, they had no power to grant the licenses.
