THE ASSOCIATION GAME. KAPONGA CLUB.
Tlif annual meeting of the Kanoiijra iWiatiun Football Club was hold on iuesday night, Mr. F. Northcott (virepresident) occupying the chair. Theie was a fair attendance. The following officers wen? appointed:—President, Dr. Maelagan (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs. ttaigent, Northcott (re-elected), and A. Adlam; secretary, Mr. Oliver; captain, Mr. D. Kelly; vice-captain, Mr, f. Precce; management committee, Messrs. A. Melville, E. Foreman, T. ; Preece, C. E. Betts, I>. Kelly, and officers ex officio: ground committee, Messrs Preece, Kelly, and J. Lash; audit')!'. Mr. Adlam; delegates to the L'nion, Messrs. Hetts and Oliver. The subscrip. tion wa* fixed at ;>s: boys under 1H to be charged 1 * (id. The selectors will b*> the captains of the teams and Mr. Fo=-e. man. The matter of color* was left in the hands of the delegates. Mr. Northcott offered a gold medal to the member adjudged to be the best player and I worker in the club. Mr. Northcott was thanked by acclamation. A letter was received from Mr. Williams, secretary of the Union, intimating that the Diamond Club would send a team to pi jy a friendly game at Easter time. At a meeting of the management committee subsequently, a further letter was n • (reived from the secretary of the Diamond Club, and it was decided to arrange a match for master Saturday. Prospect* for the season are reckoned good in ''soccer'' circles. The club intends to again have two teams. STRATFORD CLUB.
A meeting was hold in the Borougn Council Chamber.'* on Thursday night (reports the Post) to consider the form4ti*B of an Association football club in fctratt'orcl. There wa* a 'air nuinb"i' present. Mr. S. Clark was voted to th» ctair. In hi* opening remarks he gave a brief [U'cuiiiif. of (lip progress <if this class of football in Taramiki. He also read letter- from several enthusiasts from Toko anil elsewhere, who woul 1 be willing to do whatever tliey eoulrl lo help to form a g#«d club. A resolution was carried that a chili be started In Stratford. It was resolved that Dr. Carbery be askfd to stand as president, and Messrs. W. P. Kirkw»od and T. Mercer as vice-presidents. The following officers were elected for the coming •eason: Secretary anil treasurer, Mr. W. B. Eagle; management committee. Messrs. S. Clark. D. Budchard, .T. Clapharn, and M. I'rquliart. Messrs. ,1. Clapham and W. H. Eagle were appointed delegates to the Union. The subscription was tiled at .'is per annum. Mr. Claik stated that lie had already secured a ground. It was resolved t.i liold a practice match on Thursday, !)tli April. The colors of the chili will be black shirt with badge and blue knieker«. Other business was left- over until ft further meeting to be called next Thursday. The usual vote of thanks accorded the chairman, and the mooting adjourned. }
