In respect to the New York State county elections, the fact of Tammany j defeating the Republican and Hearst' fusion, (is tunsiler.il notable 'because Hearst attempted to detach the Irish vote by attacking the London Times, and in indulging in Anglophobia in his papers. Hearst's prospects for the Presidency are now considered to be extinguished. Nebraska has gone Republican, which i« a rebuke (sic) to Mr W. J. Bryan, Republican randidate for the Presidency. Kentucky and New Jersey States have gone Republican, though New .Tersey City remains Democrat. The Mormon jfayc.r of Salt Lake City wns defeated by a religious opponent.
