NORTH ISLAND POULTRY ASSOCIATION.
The annual meeting of the Association wis held yesterday. There wer« present the following delegates: Messrs 0. H. Pickering (President), 11. Munro, secretary (Manawatu), J. Walker (Newton), J. B. l'onar (Auckland), J. Nicholls (Waihi), E. E. Fromont (Hawera), Stewart (Hastings), W. Woollcy (Marton), L. Hooker (Wellington), S. Olliver (New Plymouth), T. Schnaekenbeig (Whangarei)-, N. Higgie (Wanganui), W. Hall (Miksterton), W. Messenger (Ingbwood), and A. Thomson (Waikato).
The President, in his report, mentioned the pleasing fact that at the Association meetings held during the year tln> business had been conducted bv societiea affiliated and not by proxies to any great extent. Finances were in a. healthy state, £2O having during 4 he year li?cn placed at fixed deposit. During tlte year the Peilding and Dannevirke Societies ceaA?d to exist. There were 21 affiliated societies and 10 license! associations in the North Island, against 19 and 9 respectively last year. Six new chsmpionhipß had )>een added to the list, which made a totiil of 40. Un<i >r the nw rule, 18 would bo won right out and the others under the old role.
Officers were elected: President, Mr C. Goodson, Hawera: vice-presidents,Mr J. Oasey, Wellington, and Mr Paul Hunter, Parongahau; seerettrv, Mr A. M. Conrov, Hawera; treasurer, Air J. E. Cowell, Hawera. The femit of the Hastings Society, "That this Society uphold the action of tho North Island Poultry Association adhering to the rules in reference to unlicensed societies or associations," was wthdrawn.
Thie Woodville Society moved, "That the allotment of championships be made by ballot in the manner as the committee may arrange tho details of/'— Lost.
The meeting negatived tho Ne.w Plymouth remit "That judges shall qualify by examination and not by approval"; but passed the second remit in an amended form as under: "That no person be dllowled to sit as a proxy at the annual meeting of delegates unless he is a financial member of an affiliated poultry society." The JDvwawatu Society's remit was negatived: "That no affiliated Society to the North Island Poultry Association enter into an agreement for a combined show with an Agricultural Society without first submitting same to the N.T.P.A. for its approval." Exhibitors at the Agricultural Show in Palmerston North were disqualified.
THE SOCIETY'S SUPPER. The annual supper given by tlw local society was held on Friday night, Mr S. (JUiver (President) occupying the chair. llis Worship the Mayor wis present., and the gathering included the Association delegates and visiting fanciers. The catering was in the Ivmds of Mr .1. \V. Thomson, and was rjiiite up to his usual high standard. A full toast list was disposed of, and the gathering concluded with the singing of tlm Xational Anthem and Anld liing Syne.
