WELLINGTON RACES. SECOND DAY. Per Press Association. Wellington, July 24. The Wellington winter meeting was continued to-day, in fine weather. The attendance was large. The successful combination' doujble on the Wellington Steeplccliase and Waterloo Handicap paid £2!) 15s. Seventeen horses start id for the Jumpers' Flat Handicap. Shortly after the start, Prospector fell at tho track leading across the treck from the scraping sheds, and brought Bonhcar, Needlework, Roscgrove, Le Beau and Hiiitley down. The horses were not hurt, but Henry Falrhrother, the rider of Prospector, fractured several ribs and put his thigh out, and sustained some internal injuries. He was taken to Wellington hospital. J. McGregor, Iho rider of Lc Beau, fractured a collarbone, and Joe O'ConncH (rider of Needlework) received a cut over the eye and a shaking. The others were unhurt. Results:— ;"--fw^«»j

Second Hack Hurdles', li/S miles—Regulation 1, Aoteai 2, Waipu 3. Also started: Landlock, Sfatakokiri, Knipstipcti, Stayboy, Repulse, Idnsa, Oasis, Catch-'em, Dulcineai Nero, Alluvial, Rahue, Gold Guard. Won by a length and a half. Time, 2.56 3-5. Divs., £l6 Us and £3 7s. .
Wellington Steeplechase, 3y,' miles.— Haydn 1, Evenlode 2, Khama 3. Also ran: Wnftarere. Kliama'and Haydn ! ran together for nearly two rounds, where Kliama was in difficulties. Six furlongs from home Evenlode headed Khama, and made a grent effort to overhaul Haydn, who had assumed a lead of sever*! lengths. Thoy rose at (lie last fence together, and after a splendid finish Haydn secured the verdict by a head. Khama was ten lengths nway, and .JYaitarere a bad last. Time, 0.58*4-5. Div., £4.
Waterloo Handicap, 7 furlongs—Seaman 1, Medallist 2, Mataari 3- Also ran: Kuku, Ellcrton, Kurawaka, Whakawchi, Shrapnel Shell, Chatterer, Iceland, Compass Makikihi, Silver Shell. A slashing race; won by a nose. Time, 1.35 3-5. Diva., £2 189 and £1 3s.
Jumpers' Flat Handicap, 1% miles— Southern Cross 1, Ben Johnson 2, St. Albert 3. Also started: Asteroid, Lady nunc, Prospector, Pushful, Cavalry, Needlework, Sardonyx, Rosegrove, Hatley, Aroha, Levant, Black Squall, Le Beau, Bonhour. Won by two lengths. Time, 2.22 ivs., r£9 13s'and r £2 ITS. Thorndon Hack Handicap, 5 furlongs. —Mikutihi 1, Warlock 2, Oblivion 3.
