Mr A. J. Harding, second assistant at the Central School, has been appointed to the charge of the secondary department at the Levin School. Mr Harding is to take up his duties during September, .. .. Mr P. G. Mills, of Auckland, has been appointed Taranaki canvassing representative of the A.M.P. Society, and has taken up his duties. Mr W. A. Collis, of New Plymouth, is spending a week at tho North Egmont Mountain House. Mr P. M. B. Fisher, M.H.R, and Mrs Fisher arrived in New Plymouth list night, on a week's holiday, and are stopping at the White Hart hotel. Mr J. D. Sole, for many years traveller in Taranaki for Messrs SSVgood Son and Etfin, and of lato for Messrs Archibald Clark and Sons, has been appointed to the charge of Messrs Archibald Clark and Sons, Ltd. Taranaki business.
Amongst the visitors to New Plymouth, staying at the White Hart at present are, Mr and Mrs Baredee (Somersetshire, England), Mr Penwick (Auckland), Mr Mow (Wanganui), Mr and Mrs Frostic (Christchurch), Messrs Hayley, Scott, Maudsley and Montgomery (Wellington). Mr J. K. Hornblow, late proprietor of the Wairarapa " Standard," has purchased the Ponton " Herald." After a trying illness, the death occurred yesterday morning of Mrs Haddrell, wife of Sergeant Haddrell, of New Plymouth The deceased lady, who was 53 years of age, arrived in the colony with her parents 47 years ago, and resided in Canterbury until 1898. She leaves a family of six—Chas. Haddrell, of Cincinnati, United States: Geo. Haddrell, of Christchurch; and Sydney Haddrell, of Westport, and three daughters, who are all at home.
