TAUANAKI JUNIOR EEPS, v. WANGANUI. For somo unexplained reason no report of the junior representative match, Taranaki v. Wanganui, yesterday was scut by the Press Association. Pri vatoly wo learn that the Taranaki team won by 9 points to 3.

The Recreation Ground is in good order for the representative match, Taranaki v. Manawatn, to-day. The ground was rolled yesterday afternoon, and considerably improved thereby. The Manawalu team arriyed by the mail train last night, and report themselves in excellent fettle. The manager says the team is n better one than that which met Wairarapa last week. The team is being driven out to the oil-wells this morning and in the eveniug will be the guests of the Taranaki Rugby Union at ths Eeoreation Grounds Committee's dance in the Theatre Koyal. ■Ward's play will bo closely watched to-day. There is no disguising the fad lhat opinion throughout Northern Taranaki is that C. Potior has been very unfairly, treated by the selector. The general opinion is that the team would be greatly strengthened by putting Cameron to fire-eighths and playing Potier centre. Regarding Potier's non-inclu-sion, it is stated that the selector, Mr B.iyly, never saw tho Clifton team play, and only .saw Potier play once, in the North-South match, and on that occasion it was very noticeable that Cameron sent all the play to Abbott's wing, and neglected the other Clifton man. Further, by not seeing Clifton play, it is stated that the best "hooker"! in Taranaki, Davidson, has been over- ] looked by Mr Bayly. If> is very cvi> dent the Taranaki forward wants strengthening, and the infusion'! of more dash, Forwards of the calibres of Davidson (Clifton), Wliittington, (fl'awera), Johnstone (Tukapa), Baker. (Okaiawa) are the type of men wanted. At to-day's match, only Rugby Union officials, members of the Keferees' Association, and representatives of the Press, will bo permitted within tli • playing enclosure.

"A member of I,lm Star Seniors'" writes: -Seeing tlut ths Taranak team is ia want of agio I "hooker,' as an old cup player of many year, experience, I strongly recommend ■Jolmson, of the Tukapa Club, aS ill, only player this cnl (it for the position I know Mr Bayly is uit ai;i|iia:nte I with this player, or he would not havi failed to have given him a trial, an, there is no harm in giving him a plae. in to-day's match. Grrcubankshai ul last been given a place, which he cor tainly should havo had long ago, as lie is one of the best forwards in New Zealand. Thanking you for insertion of this, as I like to see those get their just due who merit it.
