FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' PICNIC.
This outing promises to be as enjoyable as ever. The secretary, Mr J. 'Hobbs, has been through the mill of picnic management several times, and the committeemen have also worked on the previous functions. They are, therefore, thoroughly versed in the things necessary to make the day a success. Given a fine day, they will manage the rest in good style, we are sure.
Mr Hobbs asks us to state that the racing will commence at 12 o'clock sharp. The track laid down by Mr Sampson is said to be in perfect order, hard and well-beaten. It will be in grass for future picnics. The Societies' Championship has been altered from 'l4oyds to 100 yds, on account of the small entries received. The special trains leave New Ply" mouth at 10.5 a.m. and 12.50 p.m.
Mr W. Sadler has been appointed assistant secretary, and will attend to matters on the ground, whilst Mr Hobbs is busy attending to the passenger traffic.
