WARMLY DEBATED IN THE SYNOD. (Per Press Association.) NELSON, July 11. At the Anglican Synod a resolution was carried almost unanimously, after a warm debate, recognising the evil arising from the sale of liquor and sympathising with the efforts being made to remedy it. The prevalence of gambling was also condemned. West Coast clergy deplored the almost universal pre\alencc of "two-up" gambling on the Coast. Reference was also nia.de to lotteries at church bazaars, and art. unio;..;, and to the "tote" and betting ou raws.
