CHAMPION SHIP MEETING AT GISUOHNB, (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, Jan. 9. There was beautiful weather for tho champion fours bowling tournament which oixmod to-day. Three rounds were played. Gisborne, Greenmeadows and Mount Eden each had the full number of wins, wtoile Wellington, Hastings and Petono each won two games and had a bye. Gisborne and Carlton each registered 78 points for tho aggregate prizes, Mount Eden 77, and Greensneadows 72. Results :—Nupier beat Remuera, Gisborne beat Kuiti, Greemneadows beat llannevirke, Ponsonby )x»t Auckland, Feilding i>oat Patea, Wellington a bye. Masterton beat. Har wero, Mount Eden beat Te Itau, Rocky Nook beat Wanganui, Carlton beat Victoria, Hastings beat Whataupoko, Ponsonby beat i'eikimg, Wellington beat Napior, Gisborne beat Dannevirke, Greenmeadowß beat l'atea, Kaiti beat Kemuera, Whataupoko beat Carlton, Hastings beat Rocky Nook, Mount Eden beat Masterton, Pctone beat Ilawera, To Ran beat Victoria, Wanganui a bye. Auckland beat Napier, Mount Eden beat Hawora, Victoria beat Masterton, Carlton beat Rocky Nook, Wellington beat Remuera t Danncvirke beat Kaiti, Ulsborne beat l'atea, Greenmeadowa beat Ponsonby, Whataupoki beat Te Bau, Petone beat Wanganui. I'ahiatua and New Plymouth teams failed to arrive, thus leaving the number of competing clubs at 22. Later, Rocky Nook 21 v. Wanganui 18. The Wanganui team put on 4 on the first two hoada and then tho northern tcqjn moved up by a consistent raJly, and the seventh head shpwed Rocky Nook 7, Wanganui 9. A V placed Rocky Nook ahead, and though Wanganui regained the lead .with 2 on the ninth head they only succeeded in placing oto thuir credit in tfao remaining head, while Rocky Nook continued scoring, and won by 6 t
Fading 16 •v, Pntea 15. Groat interest was taken in this game, .which was keenly contested, I'atea got a lead on the fourth head, with a score of 4, Jiut at the seventh head the score was 5 <all. Folding continued to improve their positions up to the twelfth head, aim then a lull set in, l'atea, with three successive scores of 2, having sitions up lo the twelfth head, and Then Feiltling got on another wove, making the score even on tho seventeenth heaii by putting a 3 on the next head. <>n the twentieth head Fteilding had scored 16 against and l'atea responding with a clever 2, tlfc game thus 1 endod in a victory for Feilding by one point. Greenmeadows 30, v. l'atea 12; The Napier, team put on Sin the flrst head, and continued to score heavily, The seventh head showed 1.0 to 1, arm) the fourteenth head showed 25 lo 4. Patea scored 4 on the next head, and wound up with 3 on the final, Grecmueadowa having a meritorious win 'uy 18.
Petone 21 v. Ilawera 15. The seventh round showed l'etone 7 to 6, and they scored 6 on the eleventh head and 4 on the fourteenth head. At that s'lago they led by 21 to 8, but only increased the number by 3, anil tho diffei<enco at the finish was reduced by Hawera lo 9. Gisfoorne 231 v. Patea 11. The sixth head showod the teams even, but (3 had gained d strong lead, by 18 to 6, on the fourteenth htoxd. Sonio fine play on the part of Patea failed to retrtovo the loss, and: after an excellent . game Gisborno won< Mount Ed ail 28, v. Hawera 9. Although" the result showed so much SifTerence Hawcna played ix-ally well lin tho first part of the game ; but after the eighth round they only scored threei wh'ile Mount Eden put on points steadily throughout. X'otone 21, v.. Wangianui 20.. On the seventh head Petone had a lead of 4, but on the fifth head the scores were 11 all. Wanganui steadily forged uheodi, and on the nineteenth round we 20 to 13. Petone scored 5 on the twentieth head, and this mode each team 20. Then Petono scored n single in the final, winning a splendid game..
