Motherland and Colonial Parties. (Received Jan, 5, 10.46 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 5. Mr Mac Donald, on behalf of the British Labour Representatives Committee, has written to Senator Stewart, of Queensland, expressing hearty pleasure that the Commonwealth Labour Party has taken no action in connection with preferential trade, which is receiving Almost unanimous opposition by organised labour in tha Motherland. He hoped for a continuance of cordial relations between the two parties, and suggested the holding Of occasional conferences to enable them to agree on an Imperial policy. Mr Mac Donald has also written to Mr Watson (ex-Federal Premier) expressing Uhe hope that whenever tho people's decision on preferential trade was known tho labour parties in all the self-governing colonies might work in harmony oil all Imperial ques- i tions with the representatives of organised labour in the Motherland;. j AN ANGENT-GENERAL'S VIEWS. ON AUSTRALIA'S AMBITIOUS IDEAS. (Received Jan. 5, 10.47 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 5. The South Australian Agent-Gen-eral, in an interview with the Standard stated that if England does not shortly enter into preferential arrangements with Australia he believed Australia would make a commercial treaty with some other Power.
