A cable has been received from Towns' supporters in London, offering to back him to meet Stanbury (champion from 1891 to 1896) oh the Thames for" £IOOO asdde. Stanbury'a supporters are not at present inclined to accept the offer, considering the Parramatta course good enough. It is stated Stanbury can get plenty of local backingi, and he is confident the match will be made.
