On Wednesday, the Minister has arranged to publicly opin the nev native school at Punibo, whwh is already attended by 30 native children. Both the settlers and natives of tha>diVrict are preparing to give th* Minister a hearty welcome. The Hoi, W. 0. Wulker and others have been invited to be present.

At a Farmers' Conference, it was urged tha*: further steps be taken to opin up Native lands, and it wis resolved to aslr two members of th T>?rawhiti Maori Council to resign as a protest against inactivity. The Eißt Coast Native Trust Board propose throwing open 2000 acres at an early dote.
