The entrance and subsequent withdrawal of tbe Hew Zealand horse Evening Wonder from the Great Eastern Steeplechase, which was ran to day, led to the Jockey Club Committee calling on the trainer to appear before them to-morrow and explain the circumstances of the arrival of the horse at Adelaide, and of a training track lionise being applied for and issued under th« name of Maori Chief.

Both Evening Wonder and Maori Chief were entered for big jumping races at the Onkaparangi Mee'ing, butfter the alleged Maori Chief had bsen some time in training it was discovered that tbe horse had not left New Zealand. Pending to-morrow's inquiry all wegers on the Ookaparinga and other local events in respect to Maori Chief 'and Evening Wonder are suspended.
